Christmas North to South
Posted by Chad on January 1, 2009
With my move to Atlanta and starting a new job, I didn’t have the time to take a pre-Christmas trip like I’ve tried to do over the past few years. However, I’m a sucker for Christmas, and since today, New Year’s Day, is the last hurrah of the holiday season, I wanted to get a holiday post in on my new blog before it’s too late. These pictures are a couple of my favorites from Christmas-past. One is a snapshot I took in Boston on business a year ago. I was walking to lunch, and I stumbled upon this beautiful church all decked out for Christmas complete with an old-fashioned tree out front. With the snow, and the big multi-colored lights on the tree, it really felt like Christmas – the kind of frigid-cold-outside and toasty-warm-inside New England Christmas that a Southerner secretly yearns for. So simple and traditional compared to the big inflatable snow globes and animals that seem to be cropping up everywhere around the holidays now.
The other photo is of the courthouse square in Thomaston, Georgia, where some of my mom’s family still lives. They have a beautiful square, and it’s always decked out for the holidays! So whether you’re from the North, South, East, or West, I hope you all enjoyed the holidays, and Happy New Year!

Hi Chad,
I enjoyed your blog, especially the pix of Thomaston…my home town. I would love to hear of your trips and adventures.
I’m not much of a typist, so I might not reply often.
This is my first time checking out a blog!
We are also glad to hvae you back in Atlanta!!! Welcome back!
Happy New Year,

Thanks, Kathy! Hope you check it out from time to time. Christmas each year wouldn’t be Christmas if we didn’t visit the square and Christmas Lane in Thomaston, so I had to include a pic of that. Hope you guys are well!
